1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Check Audio LLC (“Check Audio,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you access or use our mobile apps, websites, and related services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

2. Age restrictions

The Services are intended for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Parents or guardians may contact us at checkaudioapp@gmail.com.

3. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, username/handle, email, phone (if used for verification), password or auth tokens, profile photo, bio, preferences
  • Content: room titles/metadata, messages, reactions, reports, feedback, support requests
  • Payment data: limited billing details and transaction metadata (processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers)
  • Consents: recording consent, marketing preferences, cookie choices

b) Collected automatically

  • Usage data: sessions, features used, referral pages, taps/clicks, in-room participation events, approximate timestamps
  • Device and network: device identifiers, OS, app version, language, timezone, IP address, approximate location (derived from IP), network provider, crash and diagnostics logs
  • Cookies/SDKs: identifiers and telemetry for authentication, security, analytics, and performance

c) Audio and communications

  • Default behavior: we process live audio ephemerally for transmission, quality, and safety signals; we do not retain audio by default.
  • Optional recordings: room hosts may enable recording. When recording is on, we clearly indicate it in-app. If you stay in a recorded room, you consent to recording. We may store audio and/or machine-generated transcripts tied to that room.
  • Safety signals: limited automated signals (e.g., spam/abuse heuristics) may be processed in real time.

d) From others

  • Other users may submit content that includes information about you (e.g., mentions, reports).
  • Service providers and partners may provide fraud/abuse risk scores, approximate geolocation, or attribution data

4. Why we use your information

  • Provide, operate, and secure the Services, including authentication, room participation, content delivery, quality, and reliability
  • Safety and moderation, including investigating violations of our Terms of Use and applicable laws
  • Payments, subscriptions, and receipts
  • Product analytics, performance monitoring, and debugging
  • Communicating with you about updates, support, security alerts, and administrative messages
  • Marketing and engagement (with your choices respected)
  • Compliance with legal obligations and enforcement of our rights

7. Cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies

We use cookies and mobile SDKs for authentication, security, preferences, performance, analytics, and (if enabled) marketing attribution. You can manage cookie/permission settings in the app or your device settings. Some features may not function without certain cookies/permissions.

8. Recording, transcripts, and consent

  • When a room is recorded, we show a conspicuous in-room notice. By staying, you consent to being recorded and to the creation of transcripts, summaries, or highlights as described at the time of recording.
  • Hosts are responsible for local law compliance regarding participant notices where required.
  • We may remove or restrict content that violates our Terms or law.

9. Data retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and for up to 24 months after closure, unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve disputes and enforce agreements.
  • Ephemeral audio (non-recorded rooms): processed in real time and not retained beyond short-lived buffering necessary for transmission and safety signals.
  • Recorded audio/transcripts: retained according to the room’s recording setting and our retention schedule, typically up to 12 months unless a different period is shown in-app or required for legal reasons.
  • Safety and fraud logs: typically 24 months, subject to legal holds.

10. Security

No system is 100% secure; you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your credentials and for securing your device.

11. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have data protection laws different from your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

12. Your rights and choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request:

  • Access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction of inaccurate information
  • Deletion of your personal information
  • Restriction or objection to certain processing

  • Sensitive personal information (e.g., any precise location, audio recordings) is used only as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, ensure security/integrity, prevent fraud, or as otherwise permitted by law.
  • California residents: you may also request information about our disclosures under “Shine the Light” and exercise rights under the CCPA/CPRA. Authorized agents may submit requests with proper authorization. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

14. Automated decision-making

We may use limited automated systems for spam/abuse detection, trust and safety triage, and fraud prevention. You may contact us to request information about such processing and, where required by law, to contest or seek human review.

15. Third-party links and integrations

The Services may link to or integrate with third-party sites, rooms, SDKs, or payment processors. Those parties’ privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

16. Do Not Track

Our Services do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

17. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (e.g., in-app or by email) and update the effective date. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
